Skin Care Tips For Summer

We hope you’re all having a wonderful Summer! At The Italian Medical Centre we have an amazing dermatologist Dr Davide Altamura who has received advanced training in diagnosis and treatment of skin cancers and published internationally recognised scientific articles on this topic. We have put together a few tips to ensure you are treating your skin as well as you can this summer.

1. Ensure you are protecting your skin

Sun exposure can cause wrinkles, age spots and various other skin problems – as well as an increased risk of skin cancer. You can do this by using a high SPF sunscreen, seeking shade when the sun rays are strong and by wearing protective clothing when walking around in the heat.

2. Avoid smoking

Smoking makes your skin look older and contributes to wrinkles. Oxygen and nutrients help keep your skin healthy, however, smoking narrows blood vessels in the outer layers of skin decreasing the blood flow. You can always ask our GP for tips/treatments to help you stop smoking here.

3. Eat a healthy diet

A healthy diet can help you look and feel amazing. Ensure you eat fruits and vegetables daily. The vitamins and nutrients you receive from healthy food will promote healthy and younger looking skin.

4. Treat your skin well

Treat your skin gently, try not to use harsh or artificially fragranced products as they can strip valuables oils from your skin. Try to use natural organic skin care wherever possible which will minimise exposure to toxins and chemicals.

Dr Davide Altamura received advanced training in the diagnosis and treatment of skin cancers, and his work covers the full range of acute and chronic skin conditions in patients from paediatrics through to adulthood. Through his advanced training and experience, Davide has published several internationally recognised scientific articles on these topics.
